The P.Audio VIA-12 two-way line array cabinet is a component in the complete VIA System, compromising two line array cabinets and a cardioid subwoofer. The heart of the VIA-12 cabinet is the on board amplification providing 1500w of RMS power (3000w peak) to the transducers. The amplifier is matched to the remote controllable DSP with high grade AD-DA converters operating at 96kHz. The DSP makes use of the latest FIR technology to ensure linear system phase. The amplifier power supply is a universal supply with power factor correction to ensure high performance and reliability, regardless of the quality of power provided to the system. Power connection is made through Neutrik Powercon True 1 connectors for a reliable connection.
The transducers in the VIA system are completely new designs from P.Audio’s research and development team. The two eight-inch woofers feature a neodymium motor structure with aluminium shorting rings for reduced distortion. The cone pulp has been optimized to provide extremely accurate mid-bass reproduction, and to remain linear, even at high drive levels. The compression driver is a three inch design featuring a mylar surround for more linear performance around 1kHz where diaphragm displacement is higher. Lightweight and powerful, the high frequency driver ensures high frequency extension to above 15kHz.
The cabinet and rigging design is designed to be as simple as possible. Rear angle indicators show the inter cabinet angle for easy system set up. When large arrays are required, EASE Focus III modelling software can be used to optimize the frequency response and coverage for each venue.
The only difference between the VIA-12 and the VIA-8 is their dispersion — the VIA-12 offers an 120 x 15 pattern, while the VIA-8 provides an 80 x 15 pattern.
