The P.Audio VIA-SUB is a actively driven cardioid subwoofer, utilizing a rear facing 12-inch woofer to effectively cancel the sound radiation behind the cabinet to ensures that, given correct placement, low frequency feedback issues are well controlled. The newly designed, forward facing 18” woofer, features double neodymium magnets for high flux density to ensure maximum impact from the relatively small cabinet. However, the strive for high BL has not affected BL linearity, with this new woofer design having extremely low distortion characteristics.

The heart of the VIA-SUB system is the on board amplification. The amplifier provides 1500w of RMS power to each transducer, with separate DSP for each channel. This means that the response from the front and rear facing woofers can be fully optimised individually, and then combined to create the cardioid dispersion pattern. On board RMS and peak limiting ensure reliability is maintained from the system. The cabinet features integrated rigging, which can be combined with the VIA-8 or VIA-12 cabinets. If the subwoofer is to be flown, digital aiming of the sound can be achieved thanks to the on board delay in each DSP. This means complicated rigging systems can be avoided ensuring the system set up is as easy as possible.
